John grew up in Ashland, Kentucky, and felt a call into ministry while in college at the University of Richmond. He subsequently majored in Religion with minors in Leadership Studies and Philosophy before attending the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. He was commissioned in the Kentucky Annual Conference in 2006 and ordained an Elder in 2009. Prior to being appointed to Bethpage United Methodist Church in 2008, John served as an Associate Pastor at Christ Church in Louisville, KY, and a Youth Minister at Northside UMC in Atlanta. John is married to the Rev. Nancy Speas Hill, who is also a United Methodist minister, and they are the proud parents of Becca, who was born in June 2008. They also own two dogs, Sasha and Buster.
